Earlier we posted about how a person can drink tea and reduce their risk of diabetes by as much as 50 %. Well a new published report indicates that those that drink coffee can now share in the benefits, as coffee as also been shown to reduce the risk of diabetes.
The reasons behind these drinks being beneficial is due to magnesium and the other antioxidants that are found in these drinks, is what the study is suggesting. So as you can see, while you still need to adhere to medical advice, just by enjoying a good cup of joe or even a nice hot cup tea can be just as beneficial.
And since we are in the holiday season, I can’t think of a better way to enhance a nice diabetic meal plan than with a hot beverage, especially if you are in one of the many cold climates. And for many of the people who are already drinking either coffee or tea. There is simply nothing that they need to change, except the other foods that they are including in their diabetes diet plan.
The bottom line is that as long as you are following the orders of your medical professional and learning about the right type of foods and about keeping up an exercise routine. You are can be successful with controlling your diabetes or even lowering your risk of developing the disease at all.

It seems that a group of South Korean scientists have stumbled upon a new rice that can help fight diabetes as well as a skin condition called atopic dermatitis. The reason that this newly developed rice seems to be beneficial in treating these diseases, is because it contains a food supplement called cyanidin 3-glucoside, (C3G).
The study suggests that a person’s blood sugar levels are easily maintained by eating this new rice and that that the rice has more levels of anthocyanin, which is commonly found in blueberries, giving blueberries the title of one of the many superfoods that a person can include in their daily diet plans. The study also goes on to show that while people who are taking Metformin show an increase in insulin production by as much as 150 %, this rice has shown an increase of insulin production by 133%.

It’s has been a while since I have last posted to this blog. So I thought that what I would do is go over the list of foods that have been shown to help people manage their blood glucose levels and make excellent foods for diabetics.
So here is the list:
*Blueberries
*Cherries
*Healthy Snacks - These would include your raw fruits and vegetables.
*A variety of Nuts.
*Fibrous Foods -Beans, Legumes, Whole Grains, Oats.
*Lean Meats - Chicken, Turkey, even the occasional lean red meat such as lamb, goat, buffalo are good substitutes for fatty red meats.
Additional ways to also take control and keep your blood sugar levels in check is to watch your carbohydrate intake. Get rid of the simple carbs (starchy foods - potatoes, white rice, white bread) and replace them with complex carbs (which are going to be the foods that were listed at the beginning of this post).
The difference between simple carbs and complex one are that simple carbs cause an immediate rise in blood sugars, while complex carbs do not.
So the best way to take control of your diabetes and win at the diabetic fight is to include foods for diabetics into your daily eating plan.

We have talked about how nuts are beneficial in helping to control diabetes. However, nuts are now shown to be essentially beneficial to women as well.
Studies have shown that women who eat about 28g of nuts or at least 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, happen to be more physically fit than women who were not using nuts to their advantage.
In addition it has been shown that by eating at 5 five servings of nuts per week or peanut butter can lower heart related conditions by as much as 44%. That’s a drastic decrease in cutting your heart disease risk. So by eating nuts you are actually killing two birds with one stone, assisting in controlling your diabetes and reducing your risk of heart disease at the same time.
Also ladies you can become leaner in the process. So what is there to lose. Now if you happen to be one of those many people with a peanut butter allergy, maybe see what other type of nut may be of benefit to you.
And I might add that including nuts in your diet for diabetic diet plan is also beneficial as we have stated before, it make a wonderful food for diabetics. I am sure that there are plenty of diabetic recipes out there that call for some kind of nuts to use as garnishes or even toasted in the recipe itself.
