Want to avoid getting diabetes? It looks like one of the ways to ward off this disease is by getting enough sleep. By enough sleep, I mean at least six hours or more.

A recent study that was conducted showed that people who were getting less than six hours of sleep, appeared to be at risk for developing pre-diabetes at a higher rate than those who received enough sleep. For those that don’t know pre – diabetes is the step before being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes .

Why is this important? Well for some of us we tend to work and work until our bodies in some sort of fashion begin to tell us that we need to take a break. We spend so much time taking care of everyone else that we cause our health to run down in the process.

Sleep is essential to our well being and enables us to remain healthy. This is another example of how simple lifestyle changes along with the best foods for diabetics can help with keeping the disease and its complications at bay.
